Reefton Visitor centre is more than just your average visitor centre, it’s a visitor attraction in its own right! Make sure you call in to chat to the friendly staff, watching our working winding engine turn, head ‘unground’ in the replica gold mine. Browse the souvenirs and local products, we also offer a free booking service for accommodation, transport and activities all over New Zealand!

The Reefton i-SITE Visitor Centre can be found right in the centre of the town on Broadway, Reefton's main street.

More than just a visitor centre, the building is impressive and holds many quality interpretive displays of the areas historic and natural environment. This is admired by all visitors and is being upgraded during the 2010/11 summer so will just get more impressive. 

The centre also hosts a walk through replica mine. The Quartzopolis Mine complete with audio-visual interpretation is an accurate and realistic construction of a genuine quartz (gold) mine. The fully restored and working Holman Winding Engine (circa 1895) now leads a more sedate life far from the remote mines in which it once served.

 As well as providing information both locally and throughout New Zealand, the centre offers a vast array of quality souvenirs and gifts, local arts and crafts, an exhibition area, internet, public toilets and a free booking service for all accommodation, transport and activities.
